R.
Kelly
TP-2.com
By Carla Robinson
R. Kelly is the undisputed king of the ghetto love song for good reason. He knows
what works, and hes not afraid to use it. TP-2.com treads the same sex-obsessed
ground weve come to expect from him. In fact, the title stands for Twelve Play 2000,
indicating a revisiting of the classic for the digital age. And it comes complete with the
requisite computer jargon to show us how today it is. Corny tech references
aside, nobody, and I mean nobody, does carnal knowledge like R. Kelly.

TP-2 can almost be played through, save for
the chintzy I Believe I Can Fly redux, The Storm Is Over Now, and
the cheap flirtation with the Spanish market, Fiesta. If you should meet that
special someone on the dance floor, Kellys got your back on the ride home with
not-so-subtle tracks like R&B Thug, The Greatest Sex, and the
Biggie influenced Dont You Say No.
Like the majority of the disc, these songs feature solid percussion and vocal
arrangements, and, naturally, creative ways to describe making whoopee. On Greatest
Sex, soul-man Kelly warns, And inside of your walls there will dwell a
Capricorn/And if we keep this up a lovechild will be born. But he reveals himself
most on the ode, I wish, and TP2 features the original and a chill remix. Just
so we know he doesnt take himself too seriously, he throws in the cheeky
Feelin On Yo Booty, which ends with him cracking up at his own vocal
shenanigans. M
