MelkySedeck
Sister & Brother
By Sakyi Kaliym Oduro
When Jeff Redd sang I found loving, many wondered who this cat with a
soulful voice but slightly different sound was. Well that cat is back as executive
producer of Sister & Brother, MelkySedeck's debut CD. Founded on the covenant between
brother and sister, MelkySedeck with their melding of musical genres lure you into their
world of spiritual bliss and that invoke the spirit of groups like Loose Ends and
Incognito.

Sister and Brother open with "Shake it" a tune
rife with head nodding beats and entrancing guitar and keyboard melodies. And just when
you think Sister & Brother comes from one side of the emotional spectrum, it enters
the furious hiphop rage with lyrics from Mobb Deeps Prodigy on "Raw."
Like their brother Wyclef Jean, MelkySedecks musical roots endow them with an
ability to reach the special part of our spirit that yearns to be free. Sister &
Brothers organic formula is soul soothing and represents and affirms the musical
ability of the hiphop generation. The word alternative isnt descriptive enough to
encompass MelkySedecks musical paradigm. Like Dionne Farris and Michelle Ndegeocello
who cant be confined to a genre, this dynamic duo defies classification. The wonder
twin powers of MelkySedeck take the shape of a lion and the form of the Nile River; their
style can be ferocious, yet flow in the stream of our inner desire for unity. M
