2003 is also the
second year of Urbanworld's Minority Entertainment for the Cinematic
and Creative Arts Awards. This year's MECCA Award recipients include
hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and music and film star Queen Latifah.
Whether the opportunity to catch a glimpse of
Hollywood celebs factors into your decision to attend the festival or
not, be sure to stick around for Urbanworld's slate of indie films and
panel discussions while you're there. A one-on-one with comedian
Cedric the Entertainer anchors the slate of panels. Among the indies,
you definitely want to catch Anne B. Real, Skin Deep, The Larry Davis
Story, Every Child is a Poet and One Flight Stand.
New this year at Urbanworld is the Fat Albert Film
Festival at the Loews 34th Street on September 20th, which will
highlight episodes from the classic cartoon series. It's sure to be a
hit with kids young and old.
