Underclassman,
2005, 95 minutes, Rated PG-13
By Marona Lowe
Fresh-faced
bike cop Tre Stokes (Nick Cannon) eager to trade his two-wheeler for a
detective's shield volunteers for an undercover assignment at an
affluent prep school. While investigating the mysterious death of a
teenage reporter, Tre stumbles upon more dastardly deeds at the tony
high school. Loosely supervising the junior detective is Captain
Delgado (Cheech Marin) whose long-term friendship with Tre's deceased
father both helps and hinders the detective's development. MORE >>>

But what hampers development
of the film are dull quips, insipid characters, an uninspired plot and
stale action sequences that are purposely ripped from movies like
Beverly Hills Cop and Rush Hour without any original flourish.
