Brothers,

Deeply
affected by the murder of their mother, four young men bully their way
through the streets of Detroit to punish those responsible for her
death. In Four Brothers, John Singleton directs the revenge tale that
owes much thematically to the Western genre. The film harkens back to
a time when frontier justice was dispensed not by those sworn to
protect and serve, but by gun-slinging vigilantes.

Brothers combines action, drama and a dose of screwball and low
brow humor to mildly entertain. A soundtrack of traditional Motown
tunes, the muted colors of an industrial setting and character
specific costume design tailored to distinguish the cops, criminals

The film's cast is primarily male
although a stereotypical loud mouth Latina and a marginalized, but
dutiful wife are thrown into the mix. Four Brothers stars Mark
Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin and Garrett Hedlund as the
Mercer children Bobby, Angel, Jeremiah and Jack, respectively. The
film features a standout performance by Chiwetel Ejiofor as the
self-centered and tyrannical Victor Sweet.
