Intimate
Betrayal
Donna Hill
Reviewed by Delores Edwards
From start to finish, Intimate Betrayal is a fictional journey about love,
intrigue and romance. The intricacies of the relationship between Reese Delaware and
Maxwell Knight, the novel's main characters, shift into high gear when their lives become
intertwined. Reese, a journalist who prides herself on getting the "tough"
interview, meets her match after she receives an assignment to write an in-depth exposé
on the charismatic, yet complex computer tycoon Maxwell. Reese is unable to recall fifteen
years of her life due to psychological memory loss. But, as she gets closer to Maxwell,
glimpses of her past invade her psyche, along with the realization that their relationship
holds clues to the other's past, thereby igniting sparks and drama.

Subplots about trust, conspiracy and
deceit are cleverly woven throughout the tale, adding to the main premise of a romance
between two individuals and proving novels in this genre are not superficial or
single-mindedly focused.
Intimate Betrayal provides a form of escapism and fantasy along with an examination of
reality-based issues expressed in African-American culture, but rarely written about.
Plus, since it's a romance, there is a happy ending. Intimate Betrayal is sure to engulf
you into the plot and subplots of its characters' lives and you're sure to get a sense of
how two people are able to conquer obstacles and find love and happiness. If you're not
careful, you may miss your train or bus stop.
