Wright, Nick Nolte, Roy Scheider, Mark Ruffalo and Liev Schreiber.
Stop-Loss’ Tiny
Kim Tells a Soldier’s Story
A
mere slip of a woman dressed in denims, a black tailored jacket and
an imprinted white designer t-shirt, Kimberly Peirce – acclaimed
director of Boys Don’t Cry –doesn’t initially seem to be the kind of
woman that would warm to telling a soldier’s story.
Cover Girls – Aunjanue
Ellis and Vivica Fox Share a Sisterly Bond in the City of Brotherly

Undercover Brother) as Valerie Maas a devout Christian whose beliefs

Bill, Three Can Play that Game) also appears in Cover,
portraying Valerie’s jaded BFF Zahara.

In Jumper, A Jedi
Master Gets Revenge on the Sith

a brown wool ivy cap turned backwards (Kangol, of course), lanky

his role in 20th Century Fox’s Jumper opposite Hayden Christensen
(Star Wars II & III).
Definitely, Maybe
In

and tells his precocious tweener (Abigail Breslin) about his legacy
of love and loss.

dead people.
Honeydripper
In
Honeydripper, director John Sayles brings the blues to life in his
engaging tale of down-on-his-luck, juke joint owner Tyrone Purvis
(Danny Glover). In a last ditch effort to save his business and
redeem his soul, Purvis begs, borrows and steals in 1950s Alabama.
The film features a talented ensemble, most notably Charles Dutton
whose amiable, jack-of-all-trades Maceo meshes harmoniously with
Glover's Purvis. The rhythm of the blues permeates the film's
soundtrack, reaches deep and rocks the soul.
The
Great Debaters
Denzel
Washington directs The Great Debaters, a thought-provoking look at
the societal benefit of resorting to reason rather than rage.
Washington also stars in the film as Professor Melvin Tolson, a
firebrand who coaches the debate squad at Wiley College (Texas) and
encourages local farmers to unionize in his spare time.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Burton directs Sweeney Todd with signature flamboyance and

I am
Legend Now on DVD!

research scientist, Robert Neville has no need to worry about long
checkout lines at his neighborhood grocer. In fact, queues are
distant memory for Robert as he is the last healthy man on Earth –

I'm Not There
As
multifaceted as the icon that the film depicts, I’m Not Here is Todd
Haynes’ artistic exploration of the ever-evolving Bob Dylan. Born
Robert Allen Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota, Dylan is widely
regarded as a legendary musician. More importantly, Dylan is an
artist with a capital A. So much so that Dylan risked alienating his
fans in order to push himself musically and follow his own creative
path.
The Mist Now on DVD!
Forget
the bugs, bats and tentacled creatures of the film. In The Mist,
the real horror is Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Marcia Gay Harden that is.
Harden portrays Mrs. Carmody, an uptight small town woman thrown
into a frenzy once she learns there is an undefined something
lurking in the mist.
Beowulf Now on DVD!
Fearless
and boastful, Norse warrior Beowulf (Ray Winstone) travels to
Denmark and slays King Hrothgar’s (Anthony Hopkins) mead hall
monster, Grendel (Crispin Glover). A deformed gargantuan beast,
Grendel is the bastard son of a cave-dwelling seductress and is
pained and enraged by the late night merrymaking of his noisy
neighbors. Not one to merely bang on his neighbor’s door pleading
for silence, Grendel bursts through the door and pummels his
tormentors.
Lions for Lambs Now on DVD!
In
Lions for Lambs, director Robert Redford forces an examination of
spin, the spinners and the spun. In the film, Senator Jasper Irving
(Tom Cruise) offers journalist Janine Roth (Meryl Streep) a chance
to scoop her competition by being the first to announce the details
of the onset of a new military campaign aimed at revitalizing the
Afghanistan war effort.
