Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed reading the
article. It was well-written and thought-provoking. The information presented and the
questions at the end caused me to rethink the whole episode, and to ask myself those
questions in light of Iverson's life after the second chance.
I think now, as I did then, that Iverson's trial,
conviction, and subsequent incarceration were unfair and racially motivated; especially in
light of the fact that none of the white participants in the "brawl" were
arrested and tried in the courts. The other issues--denying bail, trying his as an adult--
only add further my conviction that the whole affair, after it got to the legal system,
was tainted by racial bias.
Iverson is still a young man and, therefore, subject to
youthful indiscretions and just plain dumbness. He has been guilty of both. However, there
is always hope that with age and maturity he may just turn out to prove that he is really
deserving of that second chance.

You'd think its weird by having a girl comment on how much
she admires Allen Iverson, but i do. This is a really touching article or atleast for me.
I never knew about Allen Iverson's life until today when i was watching on of his games
and it refered back to an interview with allen iverson. Everything it said about him i
never knew, buf of waht i heard it made me want to know. So i read the article. It had
really interested me. I look up to Allen even more now not jsut as a player but as a
person.

I am so sorry that your jaded views have prevented you from
seeing the truth in the Allen Iverson trial Mr. Arnold. It sounds like instead of
collecting the facts for yourself, you merely latched on to the opinions of someone else,
decided that they must be the truth and made them your own. The claim that the trial was
"tainted by a racial bias" holds no merit. What happened in the Hampton Bowling
Alley was certainly a brawl, if not more. You attempt to diminish the intensity of the
incident is can't be based off of factual information. If you truly knew what happened
that night then you would in no way be able to write it off as a mild "brawl". I
have heard so many claims that none of the white participants were arrested and tried and
that this is unfair and the trial must have been racial motivated. (A)What no one takes
into account is that the people at the bowling alley that evening were predominantly
black. (B) There were absolutely NO witnesses that testified of a white person striking
another person over the back with a chair. Iverson was proven in a court of competent
jurisdiction to be guilty of breaking a chair over the head of two individuals, including
one employee of the bowling alley and one 17yr old girl. Regardless of whether Iverson and
his companions were denied bail, or tried as an adult, doesn't change the way the jury
interpreted the argument and evidence. Do you really think that if he had originally been
given bail the jury would have found in his favor? I don't. Those issues are totally
unrelated to the outcome of the trial. In my opinion Iverson should be forced to go back
to jail and serve his time. He should have to give a share of his multimillion dollar
salary to the young lady that he maliciously struck with a chair, thus causing permanent
brain damage. And don’t give me that crap about him coming from a poverty stricken
family in an inner-city household. That in no way excuses his actions. There are millions
of people that come from background much like his and they don’t go around
instigating fights, tearing up property that doesn’t belong to them, and striking
people with the intent to cause severe damage. It makes me sick the way the public has
built Iverson up on a pedestal because he is a good athlete. What kind of a message does
it send out to America? That there are certain laws and standards you must abide by and
you have to learn to exhibit self control…unless you’ve lived a rough life and
happen to be good at basketball. I am abhorred that kids look up to this man as a role
model. He in no way exemplifies what our children should do and how they should act. Allen
Iverson needs to go back to jail.

Allen is an all star and a hottie. He is wow! He is a great
athlete. My teacher, Mr.Kissler, made his wellness class write a report about our favorite
athlete. I have a lot of favorites but I deciced to pick Allen. Keep playin' well baby and

I think that this article is very specific about the way he was prosecuted for
something he did not do. It truley shows how some peole can be cold hearted and lie about
an death threating incident like that.Some white people that are involved with the klu

Well i have to say that i am a huge Iverson fan. i have to say that this artical is
really interesting. I also think that all these charges pressed against Iverson are really
