Chris Webber: New Jack Renaissance Man

Chris started his collection of historical artifacts with a photo that reflected a symbol of his dad's upbringing in the segregated South.  What family artifacts do you treasure? Describe the significance of those items or tell us what you think about this article. Please leave your comments in this public guest book so we can share your thoughts with other visitors.

What an enlightening article and I related to its entirety. I , too have an affinity for the perservation of our past history as well as that of other cultures. I have always pride myself in keeping friends from various ethnic backgrounds and embracing their culture as well as preserving the wonderful treasures of my culture. Best of luck to Mr Webber and much happiness . He is truly an asset and brings something special to the table to remind our children of how special their heritages are .L Foeman gave me a well written and informative article that was so exciting I could not stop till the end and wanted more. Keep em coming!!!!!

First, of all let me start off by saying " that the article is wonderful and very enlightening". I really enjoyed reading the article and it brought back memories of my grandfather(whom is my inspiration in life). My grandfather was the type of person that had everyone best interest at heart and always wanted the best for his children and grandchildren. Gosh I miss him so much. The things in which I treasure the most are pictures that we shared on his birthday as well as special holidays and of course Fathers Day. He and my best friend (Jimmy Spady) were the two people in my life that their deaths have affected me the most. Lisa, you have done an excellent job and your writing skills are EXCELLENT and REMARKABLE. I am so proud to be considered a friend of yours. You have always done wonderfully for yourself and your family. You deserve a pat on the back but a hug as well. Continue to strive for excellence. I wish you the best!!!

Take Care,

Your Homeboy and Friend Gregory O Johnson Atlanta, Ga.

IF you listen to the evening news, Chris Webber is a pot head, spoiled athlete. Lisa Foeman took the time to get the rest of the story. Like many of the readers of Mosaec, I find it refreshing to hear positive uplifting articles about athletes who give back to their communities. As an educator, I can relate to the self-esteem issues that Webber mentions in the article. All children need to know that their forefathers have contributed to the success of this country. C Webb, if you ever get the traveling artifact exhibit on the road, I know of one school that would love to be on tour list. Thanks MO, keep adding your special flavor to articles. I can always watch the evening news for the dirt.

WOW! The Webber piece is fantastic! It shows a side of a professional athlete rarely seen. It's nice to see that our role models continue to represent! The article is very well-written and informative. Anyone who thinks that professional athletes are all bad should stop and take a second look! There are obviously gems in the pack.

Wonderful article . . . more positive stories like that have to be told. Too many times, athletes (particularly, African American athletes) are portrayed in a negative light (of course, a lot of this can be blamed on the athlete him- or herself). It is refreshing to see a young Black man who respects himself and his history.

C. Webb is not a pot head, even though the media may say so otherwise. Also, the stuff he collects is interesting.

The article on Chris Webber was indeed a refreshing change from all the negative images that have surrounded, not only him, but others in the limelight as well. I wish him much success in his efforts with collecting artifacts. We as a people, not only African American, but as a whole need to recognize ALL history, for we will never, ever be able to move forward, if we don't glimpse into our past and learn what those before us sacrificed for the priviledges we enjoy and take for granted today. Keep up the Good work, L. Spencer.
