My comments are about Brother Dodson's review of MeShell's "Bitter." Brother
seems to be too excited about the fact that Meshell is bisexual, or he can't find another
attribute, or adjective to describe her or her work. Is bi? If so, hit me up with an
e-mail. Fuck the sexual orientation information. It's only because she said it that its
got everybody up in arms. Yawn. I am bored.

This is absolutely the best release of 1999. I waited in great anticipation of Me'Shell
new release and I was not disappointed. Her lyrics are captivating, as usual. The
instrumentation is divine. While "Bitter" is a departure from her funky sound,
in remains true to the heartfelt honesty that made us love her from day one. She revisits
her favorite subject..."love"... lost, unfulfilled, and the anticipation of
love. Not heavily promoted, not in continous rotation on your local station, but a
definite must have for the mature, the lover of good music, and anyone looking for a
departure from the everyday, teenage, sex craze, no singing artist force fed to us by the
media. Great for evenings alone or with that special someone.

Simplicity of groove is the lacking element of todays "music" scene, but in
my opinion, as singular as it may be, this work titled "bitter", is beauty in
the darkness of all glum being raked out of the radio. Meshell holds a place in my heart,
because every album, or master peice she creates, is revealing in some way or fashion of
herself. She is real beauty absolute! Thank you Meshell, for keeping the groove of reality
alive.
