The movie was decent. I believe that the comment about the football star being a summa
cum laude was a little unrealistic. I understand that they were attempting to do away with
the myth that Black college football players are only "playas" who do not take
their academic work seriously. However, that comment was a bit much. Also, I wish that we
could have known a little more about Candy. Her character potentially had the most
interesting story to tell, but we don't exactly know what it is.

Kudos to Terrence Howard who played that card, Quentin! Clearly, the film wouldn't have
worked without his presence and very skillful acting abilities. I was a little
disappointed by the characterizations of the female characters. But, hey, at least they
didn't portray the typical "aunt jemimas" or the "struggling, black, single
mother." By the way, why would anyone be so stupid as to write a
"fictitious" novel that so closely related to reality? That nagging question was
left unanswered in the film.

Loved it, and will see it again. Great work to everyone involved with this project.
While I support black cinema, this is a film that will rave about not just because It's
black cinema. YES!

Perhaps is we loosened our ties and had taken off our 24 hour support pantyhose before
going to see Best Man, our imaginations would have run wild with the responsible images
this movie entailed. Best Man was honest and funny. It was a true detail of black lives
that a few may have found defensive only because their "dirty laundry" was
exposed. But to the many who adored-absolutely loved! this movie- say, keep on keeping on
with the positive images-and yes keeping it real is always positive.

The tempo of Prioleau's article just flowed and boy did I find myself agreeing with
her! A critical piece infused with definite persuasive elements. As for the film itself,
it was nice to see a film that departed from the typical gangsta', hiphop genre. Black
film, like the many hues comprising the Black race, needs more variety. Cheers to Best Man
for putting the world on notice that we are more than wetnurses and gangbangers.

Great job with the review, I saw the movie yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I must
say that I think that the groom's character was more than a bit over dramatized. Brothers
that I know just don't "come to Jesus" that quickly, and they certainly aren't
that forgiving....but, be that as it may, I'd see it again and again. This Lee person is
quite good for a first time out of the box.
Anyway, I love MOSAEC and the good work that you're doing , Keep it up!

I loved Morris Chestnut and Terrence Howard's acting skills. Nia Long was compelling as
always, but wasn't given enough to work with. I enjoyed the film very much, but I was a
little hurt by the typically sexist attitudes about women (ambitious women will never be
happy because no man will want them, "good" girls won't mind submitting totally
to her man, etc.) Overall, though, a refreshing portrayal of young black people.

I thought the movie was very inspiring. It was about the basic encounters of every day
life.It proves that once you put your heart in it you can ''LOVE" .Which is something
this world needs. Also when a person decides to leave their past behind for the betterment
of their lives they should be given a chance to prove themselves. The problem that fails
alot of people is insecurity which almost cost the meaning of love to be
meaningless.Another thing is that once you're a man's friend you're his friend for life or
you're not his friend at all.So by watching this movie it can help you come to terms with
certains experiences in life and to approach it at the various levels. Temptation is
something that caused us humans an arm and a leg.So don't be afraid to give your heart a
taste of love but don't be a fool for love you deserve more than just settling with want
you can get but what you need is important. I'm not an expert on love but I know the best
experiences.Marriage is for the rest of your life so when you do it right. So lets live in
peace ,love and soul.Good luck in finding the one you love that,s if you haven't already
like I did. It's better late than never.

Accusing 'The Best Man' of giving a less than 3 dimensional depiction of modern black
women is akin to accusing Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered
Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf" black male bashing. Which it is not. Shange's story
is centered on colored girls. Malcolm Lee's film is about the best "man". It is
a man's story. All other characters white, latin, or female are secondary at best. The
women were familiar to me and likeable in all their human sins and successes. Gina
Rockbythewood's "Love & Basketball" is a woman's story of love for her
dream, and her man. But, a "woman's" story nonetheless. I didn't expect the male
lead to recieve equal time on the screen. His story is subordinate to her's. As it should
be. I would hope that people of different genders, races, and cultures can appreciate
stories that speak to universal truths embellished by the specifics of race, ethnicity,
gender, age, etc. Thank you Malcolm Lee, Gina Rockbythewood, Ntozake Shange, and all other
storytellers who shed light on the bittersweet beauty of being black, male, and female in
this country, and the world at large.

Terrence Howard was the best thing in this film.He made the film. I would have thought
this film as kind of boring and silly if not for his presence. I trult enjoyed his
performance.

THIS WAS A GREAT STORY.AS WELL, AS SOME OTHER "BLACK" MOVIES.AS AN ASPIRING
WRITER AND MOVIE WATCHER, I FEEL, AS WELL AS THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE I KNOW-THAT THE SAME
BLACK ACTORS/ACTRESSES ARE CAST IN ALL THE "BLACK" MOVIES.AND IT IS JUST NOT
INTERESTING ANYMORE, TO SEE THEM IN ANY, "BLACK MOVIE". NOT TO SAY, THAT THESE
PEOPLE ARE NOT TALENTED,BUT THE "BLACK" MOVIE-GO-ERS, WILL NOT GO TO THE
THEATERS TO SEE THE MOVIE.YES, THEY WILL RENT IT OR WATCH IT ON HBO, BUT NOT PAY, WHERE IT
REALLY COUNTS.I KNOW THERE HAS TO BE SOME NEW,FRESH TALENT OUT THERE.TAKE IT FROM A WRITER
AND CONSUMER.I WRITE LYRICS,CHILDREN'S STORIES AND IAM CURRENTLY FINISHING A COUPLE OF
SCREEN PLAYS-FRESH,NEW,ORIGINAL MATERIAL. I GIVE THREE STARS-NEED NEW TALENT AND ORIGINAL
